Puerto Rico coastline — home of Las Tres Hermanas Oyster Farm

Nuestra Historia

Our Story

Three sisters. One island. A farm born from love of the sea.

The Beginning

Rooted in Puerto Rico

Las Tres Hermanas began the way most meaningful things do — around a table, with family, and a shared dream. Three sisters who grew up along the coast of Puerto Rico, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean, decided to do something no one in their family had done before: farm the sea.

Puerto Rico's waters have always been part of who we are. We swam in them, fished in them, and ate from them. Starting this farm was a way of giving back — of becoming stewards of the same coastline that shaped us.

The Three Sisters

Who We Are

Three sisters, three roles, one shared mission.

The Farmer

Farm Operations

She lives on the water. Every harvest, every cage check, every early morning — she is there. Her hands know these oysters better than anyone.

The Chef

Culinary & Partnerships

She speaks the language of restaurants and chefs. She built our wholesale relationships and ensures every oyster we send out meets the standard she would serve at her own table.

The Storyteller

Brand & Community

She tells the world who we are. From the farmers markets to the fine dining rooms, she carries the story of Las Tres Hermanas with pride.

Our Varieties

Two Oysters, One Island

We grow two varieties native to Puerto Rican waters — the Atlantic Pearl and the Mangrove Oyster. Each one is a product of its environment: the Atlantic Pearl shaped by the open ocean currents, the Mangrove Oyster by the rich, sheltered ecosystems of the island's mangrove coastline.

We didn't choose these varieties for novelty. We chose them because they belong here — because they are Puerto Rico.

Atlantic Pearl

Delicate ocean brine, clean finish, native to Puerto Rican waters. Perfect for raw bars, specialty dining, and culinary experiences.

Mangrove Oyster

Rich Caribbean brine, mineral character, naturally grown among mangrove ecosystems. Perfect for restaurants, oyster bars, and authentic island cuisine.

How We Farm

Sustainability Is Not a Feature — It's the Foundation

Oysters are one of the most sustainable foods on the planet. They filter the water around them, require no feed, no fertilizer, and no freshwater. Every oyster we grow actively improves the marine environment it lives in.

We farm in harmony with Puerto Rico's coastal ecosystems — working with the tides, not against them. Our cages are positioned to minimize impact on the seafloor. We harvest only what is ready. We never rush the sea.

Water Filtration

A single oyster filters up to 50 gallons of water per day, improving clarity and oxygen levels for the entire ecosystem.

Zero Feed Input

Our oysters eat only what the ocean provides — phytoplankton and organic matter naturally present in the water.

Harvest to Order

We pull only what has been ordered. No overproduction, no waste, no oysters sitting in cold storage.

Native Species Only

We grow only species native to Puerto Rican waters, protecting the genetic integrity of the local marine environment.
